Ramzan Ration

Distribution of Ramzan ration to more than 2000 deserving fasting households

            Through the central Safa Baitul Maal, each year before the commencement of Ramzan, ration for one month comprising of rice, pulses, oil etc is provided to more than 2000 poor fasting households dwelling in more than 80 localities of Hyderabad city. Hence during the year 2016, it had been planned to distribute Ramzan ration at Safa Baitul Maal and its branches; 20000 (twenty thousand) bags have been despatched from the centre to all the branches for packing rice and other commodities. The trustees of Safa had decided to deliver Ramzan ration to 2000 poor fasting households in Hyderabad city and a package has been formulated comprising of 14 essential commodities: 20 kg rice, 2 kg oil, 2 kg lentils, 1 kg chana dal, 1 kg sugar, 1 kg gram flour, 1 kg pickle, 1 kg dates, 1 kg coarse salt, 1 kg fine salt, ½ kg tamarind, ½ kg chilli powder, ½ kg ginger-garlic, ¼ kg tea and 200 gm turmeric. The cost of each package was Rs 2000. All the packages were distributed to the beneficiaries before the commencement of Ramzan.

            Hence, in the first stage the slum localities had been divided into 5 zones and the distribution had been taken up from 3rd to 6th June in these zones. On the 3rd of June, the central president, Moulana Gayas Ahmed Rashadi had distributed ration to 136 beneficiaries from Saidabad zone; on the 4th of June, the treasurer, Moulana Waseem-ul-Haq Nadvi distributed ration to 371 households belonging to Hafiz Baba Nagar zone; on the 5th of June, the general secretary, Moulana Mohammad Fasihuddin Nadvi Sahab distributed to 201 deserving fasting people from Golconda zone and on the 6th of June, ration had been distributed by Moulana Musaddiq-ul-Qasmi Sahab, secretary to 174 poor fasting households of Malakpet zone and in the Kishanbagh zone to 84 beneficiaries through the hands of Abdul Kareem Faheem Sahab, secretary of Masjid-e-Ashraf Kareem and other incharge persons. In all the programmes, the trustees of Safa explained the virtues and importance of Ramzan and preached the recitation of Quran and fasting. In this way the first stage of distribution had been completed. In the second stage, ration packages had also been distributed to those widows and disabled persons who are paid monthly pensions through Safa Baitul Maal and to applicants who had been shortlisted after investigation from among the applications that are received throughout the year at the office and to the religious workers who render their services at mosques and madrasas; as well as Ramzan ration had been distributed to 161 deserving fasting households belonging to the surrounding areas of Hyderabad. Ramzan ration had also been distributed to hundreds of poor households dwelling in slums abutting Malakpet area like Afzal Nagar, Shankar Nagar, and Papayya Basti. In this way, Ramzan ration packages worth Rs.5336314 had been distributed to more than 2000 deserving fasting households this year. All these programmes had been telecast live on the Safa Channel Online from 10 AM to 12 Noon daily. Apart from the central Safa Baitul Maal, the distribution has also been undertaken through the branches of Safa Baitul Maal established throughout India.
